Reflection on Technology

Can a classroom, in this 21st Century, educate children sufficiently without much use of today's technology? This question came to light during a discussion of an article on technology this morning in our AWP class.  Children in the past learned without computers in the room or a lab.  Pencil, paper, and chalkboards were the tools in many classrooms just a short time ago.  Even though children could still learn and acheive most of the standards with a few basic "tools", it was brought up in the discussion that children of this century need to see, use, and implement the use the technology of our world today in order to prepare them to be ready for their future.  Technology will update and change and they need to be ready for how they will enter University, find a job, and prepare for a career.Also, state standards are being aligned with computer and technology skills that students will need to mater in order to complete credits to graduate.
